Elevation Gain: +1,000 m | Distance: approx. 7 km | Walking Time: approx. 6 hours
After a leisurely breakfast, you will drive to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park, the starting point of your Mount Meru climb. While your mountain team prepares the equipment and takes care of the formalities with the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA), your very own adventure begins.
Even the first day of trekking is a remarkable experience, feeling more like a walking safari than a traditional mountain hike. The trail leads through open savannah and lush montane forest, where, with a little luck, you may encounter giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, antelopes, or even elephants along the way. You will stop for a break at the idyllic Maio Waterfall and pass beneath the impressive Fig Tree Arch before reaching Miriakamba Hut at an altitude of 2,500 metres in the afternoon.
For your safety, an experienced armed ranger will accompany you throughout the entire hike. This allows you to fully immerse yourself in the pristine beauty of Arusha National Park and enjoy the fascinating impressions of this extraordinary landscape with complete peace of mind.
Elevation Gain: +1,000 m | Distance: approx. 6 km | Walking Time: approx. 4 hours
After breakfast, you continue your ascent. The trail initially leads through dense montane rainforest, which gradually gives way to an entirely different landscape as you gain altitude. The air becomes noticeably cooler, and mysterious wisps of mist often drift between the ancient trees, creating the enchanting atmosphere that makes Mount Meru so special.
After approximately two hours, you reach the Mgongo wa Tembo (“Elephant Back”) viewpoint at around 3,200 metres. From here, you can enjoy magnificent panoramic views across Arusha National Park and the vast plains stretching out at the foot of the mountain.
Above the tree line, the scenery changes once again. The dense rainforest gives way to a unique landscape of heath and moorland, dotted with giant lobelias and senecios – fascinating alpine vegetation characteristic of the high-altitude regions of East Africa.
Upon arrival at Saddle Hut, and depending on your energy levels, you have the option of taking an acclimatisation hike to Little Meru (3,820 m). On a clear day, you will be rewarded with spectacular views of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro – an unforgettable preview of the summit adventure that awaits you.
Elevation Gain: +1,050 m | Distance: approx. 16 km | Walking Time: approx. 11 hours
At around 2:00 a.m., the most exhilarating stage of your mountain adventure begins. After a light breakfast, you set off with your mountain guide for the final ascent to the summit. Illuminated only by the beams of your headlamps, you make your way steadily upwards beneath a magnificent African night sky filled with stars - a truly magical atmosphere.
Passing Rhino Point and Cobra Point, the trail follows the spectacular crater ridge towards the highest point of Mount Meru. As the first rays of sunlight appear on the horizon, you reach Socialist Peak at 4,562 metres.
Hongera! – Congratulations on this extraordinary achievement.
Watching the sun rise from the summit is undoubtedly one of the most unforgettable moments of your journey. On a clear morning, the breathtaking panorama stretches across Mount Meru’s dramatic caldera all the way to the majestic, snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro. It is a moment that more than rewards the efforts of the previous days - and one that will remain with you for years to come.
After a well-deserved break at the summit, you descend to Saddle Hut, where a hearty lunch awaits you. Afterwards, you continue down to Miriakamba Hut, where you can relax, reflect on the day’s extraordinary experiences, and enjoy a peaceful evening surrounded by nature.

After a leisurely breakfast, the final stage of your Mount Meru adventure begins. Following an alternative route, you descend towards Momella Gate, experiencing Arusha National Park once again from a different perspective. With a little luck, you may encounter elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, or the elegant colobus monkeys that make their home high in the canopy of the montane forest.
Upon reaching the park gate, it is time to say goodbye to your mountain team, who have safely accompanied and supported you throughout the past few days and all the way to the summit. As a lasting reminder of your successful climb, you will receive your personal summit certificate - a wonderful keepsake commemorating this remarkable achievement.
You will then return to Arusha, where you can relax and reflect on the many unforgettable experiences and impressions of the past few days.
Early in the morning, an extraordinary experience awaits you - and undoubtedly one of the highlights of your journey.
Aboard a Cessna, you take to the skies for a spectacular scenic flight around Mount Kilimanjaro. As the vast savannahs and lush landscapes of northern Tanzania unfold beneath you, Africa’s highest mountain rises majestically before you in all its splendour. From the air, you will enjoy breathtaking views of dense montane rainforests, rugged volcanic landscapes and - on a clear day - the shimmering glaciers crowning the summit of Kilimanjaro.
It is a truly privileged perspective experienced by only a few travellers and one that is certain to become one of the most unforgettable moments of your journey.
The rest of the day is entirely yours. Take time to reflect on the adventures and impressions of the past few days, relax at your accommodation, or explore the vibrant town of Arusha at your own pace – entirely according to your personal preferences.

In the evening, another very special safari experience awaits you: a night game drive.
As the sun sets and darkness slowly settles over the savannah, an entirely different world begins to awaken. In the beam of your safari vehicle’s spotlight, you venture into the African night with your guide and discover the mysterious side of the bush.
With a little luck, you may encounter genets, bush babies, porcupines, jackals, aardvarks, or even a leopard prowling through the darkness in search of prey. The magical atmosphere of the African night – accompanied by the calls of nocturnal wildlife beneath a glittering canopy of stars - makes this an unforgettable safari experience.
After breakfast, you continue your journey along the spectacular Great Rift Valley towards the picturesque Lake Manyara National Park.
Although one of Tanzania’s smaller national parks, Lake Manyara captivates visitors with its remarkable diversity of landscapes. Lush groundwater forests, open savannahs, acacia woodlands, and the shimmering soda lake blend seamlessly together, creating a unique habitat for an extraordinary variety of wildlife.
During your game drive, you explore this beautiful and ever-changing scenery while keeping an eye out for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, baboons, and hippos. With a little luck, you may even spot the park’s famous tree-climbing lions, which have made Lake Manyara renowned far beyond the borders of Tanzania.

The journey itself is already an experience to remember. As the vast plains of the Serengeti unfold before you, spectacular views accompany you along the way, with wonderful opportunities to spot wildlife roaming freely in its natural habitat.

A spectacular winding road takes you approximately 600 metres down to the crater floor.
