The Marangu Route, often called the “Coca-Cola Route,” is the oldest path up Kilimanjaro and one of the most popular.
It is well-established and offers infrastructure with several stations, which in the past even sold Coca-Cola. The route lies within Kilimanjaro National Park and passes through all of the mountain’s climate zones, from tropical rainforest to alpine desert.
Unlike other routes where climbers stay in high-quality tents, the Marangu Route offers the comfort of mountain huts, making it a unique experience.
This route is also a good choice for climbing Kilimanjaro during the rainy season—from mid- March to the end of May and from late October to the end of December—since you can stay dry and comfortable in the huts.
The Marangu Route takes you to the summit in five days and back along the same path. Because you cover significant altitude in a short time, this route is best suited for experienced climbers.
