The Lemosho Route spoils climbers with breathtaking panoramic views of the stunning western slopes of Kilimanjaro and also offers one of the highest summit success rates of all routes.
The Lemosho Route begins on the western flank of the mountain and is available in two variations: 7 or 8 days on the mountain. The difference: the 7-day trek starts at 3,500 meters, while the 8-day trek begins lower, at 2,200 meters.
On its second stage, the Lemosho Route merges with the Machame Route, where you’ll encounter spectacular landscapes and highlights such as the famous Barranco Wall.
One of the true highlights of the Lemosho is Cathedral Peak (3,872 m), one of the highest points of the Shira Volcano. Here, you have the option to take an acclimatization hike and enjoy some of the most stunning views Kilimanjaro has to offer.
Another iconic feature of the Lemosho Route is the presence of the giant, otherworldly Dendrosenecio kilimanjari plants, found only on this mountain.
